Genius Fall Hacks That Make Everyone's Favorite Season Better

What's creepy, kooky, mysterious, and spooky? No, not the Addams Family — fall! Thankfully, everybody's favorite season doesn't have to be creepy, especially when you know these autumn-themed life hacks that can save you time and money. From potato-washing tips to unique pumpkin decor, these are all the hacks, crafts, tricks, and treats you'll need this fall.

A-corny idea

If subtlety isn’t quite your speed, what better time to go all-out on a show-stopping autumnal wreath than spooky season? To make one of your own, start with either a ready-made wreath base or weave together one of your own using a supple wood or wire. Opting for wood? Make sure you avoid anything that releases a resin.

And then comes the fun part! Gather up as many acorns, pinecones, leaves, berries, and foliage as you want and either lace them through your wreath or use strong glue to piece them all together. You could even add in some more unconventional decorations, like coffee beans, nuts, and even small gourds.

Here for the boos

There's no one we'd trust quite like Martha Stewart to have the recipe for success when it comes to throwing a party. And her fountain of knowledge extends to Halloween hosting, too. According to Martha, a clever way to spice up your next autumnal party is with a kitsch-but-cute pumpkin cooler.

All you need to do is carve out a large pumpkin and fill it with ice. The more guests, the bigger the gourd — simple! Add in some pumpkin-spiced refreshments, and you’ve officially turned a veg-patch staple into unique decor.

Spoiled rotten

After endlessly scrolling through Pinterest to decide on a design and enduring the painstaking hours of carving, what's the one thing you want to avoid when it comes to your prized pumpkin? An unsightly spoiled mess come October 31st, that's what! Jack-o’-lanterns are best when they’re scary but not completely rotten.

According to the Farmer’s Almanac, you should mix a tablespoon of bleach into a quart-sized spray bottle of water. Periodically spray your pumpkins with the solution, and the bleach should keep your jack-o’-lantern’s creepy grin fresh throughout the whole season.

Apple of your pie

Is your apple pie bursting with apples and yet somehow dry and dull? As it turns out, you can add juiciness and flavor without wasting precious time and money slicing up yet more apples.

Simply pour some apple cider into the mix for a flavorful and delicious dessert. Don't blame us if your friends and family won't quit asking you to make it once they've tried a slice!

Bespoke plates without the scary price tag

If you're drawn to unique Halloween tableware but put off by the hefty price tags, why not create your very own bespoke set at home? HGTV Handmade has the perfect hack for eye-catching plates at a fraction of the cost of store-bought crockery. Start by sourcing a set of plates that you're happy to turn spooky. Thrift stores are the perfect spot for grabbing a bargain.

Next, you'll need to pick a design you like online and print it out on laser print paper. Chop out the image and coat the inked side in glue, sticking it to the plate. After it dries, douse the surface in water and wipe away the layer of paper, ahead of gluing down the decoration again. That’ll keep it in place.

Hardcore hack

Apples are a seasonal staple once autumn comes around, but they're not exactly known for their staying power. In fact, one of the fruit's biggest downsides is how quickly they turn from rosy red to muddy brown once cut.

So, if you're planning to serve them up at your next fall get-together, combat premature discoloration by cutting the fruit and then binding the pieces back together with a thick rubber band. When you're ready to serve up, just pop off the band.

It takes guts

Everyone knows that the worst part of pumpkin carving is having to deal with the goopy, gross pumpkin guts. Thankfully, all you need is a drill and a mixing beater to clean out your pumpkin in record time.

Spare yourself the effort by carefully "mixing" the inside of the pumpkin for a few minutes so you can break up the pumpkin's guts, then scoop out the insides in easy handfuls.

Hot hazelnut hack

Hot chocolate is a classic treat on cold days, but if you want to spice things up a bit, you should invest in a jar of hazelnut spread. Don't ask questions — just trust us!

Warm a few cups of milk over the stove, scoop out a generous spoonful of hazelnut spread, and stir until you have yourself the richest, coziest drink since, well, hot chocolate.

Spooky & kooky

For those who want to get the whole family involved — or anyone who's not confident using a knife — there's a lower-risk way to pimp your pumpkins. A safer option than handing over something sharp to your little ones is to use cookie cutters instead of knives.

Not only will this make it a safer activity, but it means your jack-o'-lanterns will have the kookiest eye-shapes on the block. It's a win-win! Just make sure you've got a cloth handy to protect sensitive hands when pushing through the cutters.

Sweater weather

After three months of shorts and tank tops, we can’t wait to snuggle in our sweaters... if only they weren’t covered with those annoying fuzzies! To make last year’s sweater look brand new, carefully drag a razor over the fabric.

This should minimize the pilly texture and bring your beloved cozies back to their soft, cuddly glory. If the thought of taking a blade to your favorite clothes brings you out in a cold sweat, you can also buy fabric shavers that are specifically designed for the job.

Tasty witch brooms

Elevate your Halloween spread with just three ingredients. Be sure to add pretzel rods, cheese slices, and chives to your shopping list, and you're already halfway to winning this year's snack platter award. When it's time to hit the kitchen, cut a few lines into the cheese slices before wrapping one around each stick.

The next part is fiddly but oh-so worth it. Use a chive or the green part of a scallion to tie the cheesy broom base to the pretzel. Job done!

Mess-free masterpiece

On particularly chilly days this fall, you're likely going to be looking for fun and easy activities to do indoors. Luckily, all you need is paint, paper, and a few bundles of cotton swabs to make your very own work of art!

Not only will binding together buds save you if you're out of brushes, but their circular shape is the perfect mess-free way for you or your kid to paint beautiful autumn trees.

Spice, spice, baby

The sights of autumn are beautiful, but the smells are out of this world! And now, there’s a way to bring the crisp, cozy scent of autumn into your own home.

By mixing classic fall ingredients like orange rinds, bay leaves, cloves, and cinnamon sticks into a crock pot (with water, of course), you’ll be able to breathe in autumn all season long.

Grandma's trick

We love autumn and the crisp, cool weather it brings, but the ensuing dry skin? Not so much. Thankfully, you can avoid chapped lips without stocking up on expensive lip balm. As it happens your grandma’s trick of using olive oil as moisturizer actually works!

Just dab the oil on your lips and feel the nourishment get right to work. And for those seriously in need of rehydration, try mixing together brown sugar and oil for a DIY lip scrub and moisture mask.

Time to tailgate

Tailgating at a football game sounds like a great time, but it can be a logistical nightmare if you don't plan accordingly. The last thing you want to deal with during the game is a malfunctioning grill and warm beer. This may sound silly, but don't forget the essentials: bring garbage bags to stay ahead of the mess, wear comfortable shoes, and always check the weather beforehand!

At a tailgate party, organization is key. Make sure you keep all your food and grilling utensils together in their own tote bag or box. Keep them separate from other tailgating essentials, such as bug spray and beer. And speaking of beer, never skimp on ice!

Happy hollow-ween

When it comes to choosing the perfect specimen, there's more than just shape and size to consider. Whether you're picking a pumpkin straight from the patch or from the shelves at a grocery store, keep this easy trick in mind. The fruit may look healthy on the outside, but there's a chance it's rotten on the inside.

To avoid picking a dud, be sure to hold the pumpkin up to your ear and knock firmly on the other side. The more hollow it sounds, the better!

A spud-tacular hack

Potatoes are great. There's no disputing that fact. What's not so great, however, is having to wash off all that mud. Dirty fingernails, submerging your hands in cold water, never quite getting all of the grime off — it's a chore we'd happily ditch.

Luckily there's a way to avoid all of the hassle and add valuable time to your next potato-eating experience. Simply run your potatoes through the dishwasher (without soap, of course), before you cook them up. They’ll be clean in half the time!

Fall-in in love

If designing jack-o'-lanterns feels too predictable by now, we've got just the trick (or treat) for you. Instead of wowing trick-or-treaters with a costly pumpkin display, why not hand out candy while wearing a hand-crafted mask? The first step to your mask-terpiece is choosing your base. A paper plate cut in half or a card cut to whatever shape you desire will both work just as well.

Next step — head outside and go hunting. Only the most beautiful leaves will do, so take your time. When you're happy with your haul, simply glue them to your chosen base, and voila! You have a cool autumnal eye mask to celebrate the season.

Mum's the word

If you want to decorate your home for autumn in a rustic yet classy way, then the only plants you should be investing in are mums. These fall-time flowers are festive enough on their own, but you can take them to the next level with a seasonal planter.

Ditch the boring pots in favor of a colorful pumpkin planter. Your porch will be transformed into an autumn paradise for only minimal cost and effort. What are you waiting for?

Hello, gourd-geous

Now you can use your tomato cage all year round! In the fall, simply drape the cage with autumnal foliage. You can go foraging or pick up inexpensive fake versions at craft stores or online. For extra razzle-dazzle, try adding pops of color with berries or baby pumpkins and squashes.

And if you really want to elevate your decoration game, weaving festive twinkle lights through the foliage until the cage is completely covered will add a guaranteed wow factor. For a more rustic look, fill the cage with decorative gourds!

Heads will roll

How about this for a creep-tastic idea? Capture some images of you and your friends’ faces on your phone. Once that’s done, print off the photos and laminate them.

Then grab a few jars and fill them with water and food coloring. Stick the pictures in each one, along with a bit of fake hair. The results will leave you stunned.

Fire away

Is there anything more welcoming on a crisp autumn evening than a wood-burning fire? Well, actually... yes! You can make things even more festive by adding fall-themed scents into the mix. You can accomplish this the fancy way by adding three or four drops of citrus- or apple-scented essential oil to the wood before you burn it.

For a more DIY approach, adding dried citrus peel or cinnamon sticks can produce a light aroma, too. Always be sure to test a small batch to see if it burns safely without too much smoke before adding a whole bunch.

Fancy fall decor

To add some class to your home this fall, all you need to do is gather up some pretty leaves, wrap them in tissue paper, and keep them pressed between the pages of a heavy book for up to a week. When the time is up, the weight of the pages should have pressed your collection to perfection.

The leaves should be flat enough to arrange in a picture frame of your choice. Try using a piece of black card instead of the classic frame back for an extra chic finished product.

That warm & fuzzy feeling

All the "shaving" in the world can't always save your favorite sweater from becoming a fuzzy, stretched-out relic. That doesn't mean it's destined for the dump, though!

With a little ingenuity (and some sewing skills), you can repurpose any of your old sweaters into a pair of cozy hand-warmers, and just in time for winter.

Can you be-leaf this?

It may be tempting to rake your lawn directly after a storm due to the new leaves all over the grass, but you should really wait until the sun comes out. Why, you ask?

It's pretty simple, really! If your patience lasts long enough, the sun will have dried the leaves. This will have made them much easier to lift and rake away. Trust us: your back will thank you.

Just roll with it

Got a few extra toilet paper rolls lying around? Hate all the mess of a real pumpkin? For a quick and easy way to add some autumnal magic to your bathroom, borrow an unused roll and find yourself some orange fabric. Wrap the TP in your material of choice and add either real or fake leaves.

Add a few cinnamon sticks as the "stem" to keep everything in place, and you've got yourself an adorable decoration. Plus, the cinnamon will make your bathroom smell great!

Stumped? Try this hack!

Finally — an autumnal project for grown-ups! If you prefer rustic country decor, then grab a drill, potting soil, and some flowers. It takes a steady, patient hand, but you can definitely transform that ugly tree stump in your backyard into a pretty planter.

When it comes to choosing which plants, the possibilities are endless. However, opting for something hardy and evergreen will equal maximum results for minimal effort. Just be sure to put on protective eyewear while you're drilling.

Moldy no more

When you buy a box-fresh pair of sneakers, what do you do with the little silica gel packet inside? We're betting that the most common answer includes a trashcan. But hold up! If you hang onto those little packets until October, they could save the day.

Another way to keep pumpkins from getting moldy before the big day (a.k.a. Halloween), is to place an opened silica gel packet on the inside. This won't stave off mold for more than a week or so, but hey, at least you can use those packets for something.

A-maize-ing maze hack

A corn maze may not sound very challenging, but when you keep hitting dead ends, it can turn from a fun time to a freak-out in moments. Thankfully, the puzzle experts at Kotaku.com came up with a (nearly) foolproof solution.

You might have heard it referred to as the "wall follower" method before, but it's simple — always make right turns! It may not work every time, but it's worth a shot.

Just a skittle something

If you're starting to think that your kids were a bit too good at trick-or-treating this year, then there's something cool you can do with some of their candy besides just eating it on the sly! Curb those sugar cravings in a fun, even educational way with this low-hassle science experiment.

All you need is a pack of Skittles, a plate, and some water. After organizing the candy around the outside of the plate, unleash the water and watch the patterns appear. Word of warning — try to keep the plate still if you want to avoid an underwhelming brown soup!

The power of the cupcake pan

Next time you're headed to a tailgate, don't forget to pack a cupcake pan. Hear us out on this one... When you're busy grilling, do you really want to deal with spilled drinks? Avoid unnecessary spills by using a cupcake pan to keep refreshments standing upright.

You can also use it to keep hotdog and burger toppings separate and organized all in one place as opposed to, say, spread out all over your car.

A hiking hack to save water — and your washer

Autumn is the perfect season for hiking, but it can take its toll on your sneakers. If your kicks are looking a little muddier than you'd like, but you want to forego overloading your washer, head to your bathroom cabinet instead.

An easy and relatively inexpensive way to give stinking sneakers a fresh up is by dampening a cleansing pad with micellar water and scrubbing away. In the end, they should be back in business without the need for a noisy wash load.

Ghoulishly good glowing Jell-O

For this hack, boil up a saucepan of tonic water and add some flavored Jell-O. Mix them together, add a few drops of vodka and water, pour the concoction into shot containers, and stick them in the fridge.

Wait for the concoction to set before crowning the shots with the same blend of a different Jell-O flavor. Repeat the process as many times as you like. When they’re ready, place a black light near them and admire the glow.

Hungry hungry pumpkins

If you want to get creative with your pumpkins this year, the 5-Minute Crafts PLAY YouTube channel has just the thing for you. After carving your Jack-o’-lantern, make a set of teeth from the parts you’ve discarded and stick them around the mouth using glue or toothpicks.

Then take an old pair of jeans and cut one half of the legs off. Stuff it with newspaper, place a sneaker on the end, and lie it in the pumpkin. The end result — a seriously spooky man-eating gourd!

Enter at your own risk

Looking to spook passers-by ahead of All Hallows’ Eve? Why not transform your garage into a giant monster? Granted, it's a little more effort than simply hanging a string of lights, but the kudos you'll get from the neighbors for your effort — priceless!

Start by covering the door with a dark plastic tablecloth. Then, create a set of menacing teeth using craft foam. Get hold of a coroplast board to make a pair of eyes, which you can stick to the wall. And voila!

Easy elfin ears

For those of you planning to elf-up for this year's Halloween costume, listen up. The 5-Minute DECOR YouTube channel has shared a tremendously easy trick for creating those signature elfish ears.

All you need to do is stick a flesh-colored plaster on the top of each ear before shaping the sides into a point. Yes, it really is that simple. Move over, Legolas — there's a new elf in town!

Boo-tiful bowls

It wouldn’t be Halloween without pumpkins, but have you ever thought about using them for more than just decoration? If you're planning a spooky-season get-together — or just want to impress your friends, family, or pet — then why not use them as bowls instead?

It’s easy! Once the fruit’s innards have been cleared out, it becomes the perfect vessel for tricks or treats. Just give the whole thing a good rinse to remove any seeds, and you're good to go. Bon appétit!

Weave your own web

When it comes to Halloween decorations, no house would be complete without a spider’s web. And now, you can put one together with a batch of black wool for next to nothing.

Just tape the threads to your wall and then weave a webbing pattern around them. Plus, if you’ve got any toy spiders handy, why not stick them up as well?

Becoming the Joker

Struggling for costume inspiration and don't want to blend in with the five other Jokers at this year's party? We get it — it's a popular choice, but don't despair. To make sure you stand out from the rest, 5-Minute Crafts PLAY video suggests a simple yet very effective make-up trick you can achieve with glue, lipstick, and eyeliner.

First up, add three layers of school glue from the edge of your lips up to your cheeks. Once it’s dry, carefully cut through the middle of the glue with a pair of scissors. Be extra careful here — you don't want to nick yourself or cut too far through your creation. When you've achieved the cut, apply red lipstick and eyeliner to complete the look.

Bloody candlelight

Look no further for the perfect way to spruce up plain white candles for Halloween. Step one is simple — get your hands on some red candles. If you've got nubs left over from Christmas, that would be perfect. If not, grab a new one and set up for a slightly messy job.

With either your festive leftovers or a fresh candle, simply light the red one and leave it for a moment to heat up. Then, carefully pour the melted red wax around the edges of the white candle. It’ll look just like blood once it dries.

Order of the court

Not all Halloween costumes have to be elaborate. Take this one for example. As per the 5-Minute DECOR YouTube account, you can craft a judge’s wig in next to no time. Lay out a thick — preferably white — ribbon and glue several white toilet paper tubes to it.

Once it’s dry, put it on your head and call for order! Just remember to start saving old tubes in advance if you don't want to also have to dress as a mummy!

Hammy hamburgers

Take your Halloween meal to the next level this year without forking out on expensive treats. Just allow a little extra time and let your creative juices flow for a sure-fire talking point. Start by frying up a batch of burgers as you normally would.

While that’s happening — or before if you want to be extra prepared — take some cheese slices out of the fridge and cut Jack-o’-lantern faces into them. Serve the patties without the top buns to draw ghoulish grins from your guests.

Blood-curdling baubles

If you only associate baubles with Christmas, then it's time to think again. To get started, 5-Minute Crafts PLAY noted that you should coat the inside of a plain bauble with candle smoke. If you're using plastic baubles, be careful so as not to let anything melt.

When that’s done, grab some clear plastic sheets and trace scary designs on them. Then, cut those out and stick them into the smokey decoration. The results will be spooktacular.

Hiss-terical wreath

Just like baubles, wreaths also make for excellent decorations outside of the festive season. If you’re bored of the more classic look, then how about snakes instead? Fake snakes, of course! Once you've made or bought your wreath base, use as many plastic serpents as you like.

Just thread them into the wreath or glue each one in place if you plan to use the snaky design year after year. Another option is to spray paint the snakes in your favorite shades. Alternatively, you could spray the whole thing in one color for a more camouflaged snake-appeal.

Boo bowls

Looking to spruce up your bowls of candy? Take an unwanted white sheet from the drawer and add a ghostly face to the front of it. You could use black card and some double-sided tape or a permanent marker straight onto the material.

When you’re happy with the results, drape it over the table and the empty bowl. From there, put a different container of a similar size into the empty bowl outside of the sheet. This will hold everything in place ready, for you to add your snack of choice.

Magnificent Maleficent headgear

Calling all Maleficent fans! This trick will make dressing up as the iconic villain for Halloween a whole lot easier. First, tie two metal wires to a hairband, and thread a couple of disposable cups down to the base. Then wrap kitchen foil around both cups, shaping them into horns.

When you're happy with the shape, it's time to mask the fact your horns are made of foil. You could cover them in black tape or use spray paint. Either way, you'll be the fiercest villain at the party.

A carrot above the rest

No Halloween party would be complete without snacks. But do you want your nibbles to be a cut above the rest? Grab yourself some slim carrots and a dip of your choice. The rest is almost too easy.

Just cut the ends off of some carrots and place five of them into a dipping bowl — thin end facing upwards. If you really want to freak your guests out, try adding “nails” to the ends, it’ll look like literal finger food.

Beautiful bite marks

For those of you who are going to Halloween parties with someone dressed as a vampire, this trick is perfect. Take a red marker and draw two curved lines on the chosen part of skin.

From there, smudge it with a Q-tip. Then add some black and purple dashes to it, smearing them the same way. When that’s done, apply solid reddish marks to the area. It’ll look just like a bite!

Is that a g-g-ghost?!

Got any spare cheesecloth lying around? If so, you could make your own ghost decoration. Grab an empty bottle and place two wires at the top so they’re shaped like arms. Use a ping pong ball or white modeling clay shaped into a sphere for the head.

Cover the contraption with cheesecloth, and spray every inch in starch using a spray. That’ll harden the cloth ready for you to place your creation somewhere spooky. Don't forget to add black eyes, too!

Pumpkin, drink, repeat

If you're fed up with pumpkin carving, how about ditching the face in favor of a drinks dispenser? That's right, it's easy as pie to re-purpose the fruit as a keg. We’re serious!

Hollow it out like you would when creating a Jack-o’-lantern. Then, cut a hole for the spigot. After that, fill it with your beverage of choice. Sit back, sip, and enjoy!

Ice Queen glam at a fraction of the price

If you’re planning to dress up as an ice queen, the following hack will be right up your alley. According to 5-Minute DECOR, all you need is glitter and a glue gun. First, sprinkle the glitter out on a piece of card and smooth it out evenly.

Next up, carefully draw lines of the adhesive on top. Use some more glitter to cover the lines, and you’ll be left with amazing-looking “icicles.” Let them cool before cutting them out and adding them to a hairband or dress hem.

Wicked Witch of the porch

Want to make it look like a witch has crashed outside your house? Well, you’re in luck. As YouTuber Terri Cumming outlined, it’s an easy effect to create. You just need two metal brackets and a pair of “plastic-coated” wires.

Stick them together so they resemble legs and put striped tights on each one. Stuff them both and slip some shoes on the end. Now, you can place them wherever you fancy!

Open the door, mummy

This hack will get trick-or-treaters flocking to your house in no time. All you’ve got to do is cover your front door with white streamers, leaving gaps for the handle, lock, and a space for the mummy's face.

When you're done with the streamers, cut eyes and a mouth from colored card and affix them in the gap you left near the top. You’ll be left with the most unique-looking mummy in the neighborhood.

Jug ghouls

Who says you need pumpkins to create Jack-o’-lanterns? Empty milk jugs are a surprisingly worthy alternative. Just doodle some designs on the front with a permanent black marker. Then carve an opening into the base.

Now, you can feed some battery-powered lights into the hole. Place back on the lid to keep those electronics dry, and watch as your up-cycled decorations start bringing in glowing reviews.

Age yourself in seconds

If you don't want to shell out on expensive fancy dress makeup products, 5-Minute DECOR claims that face putty is actually pretty easy to create at home. All you need is a pot of school glue and some makeup powder if you want to age yourself up for Halloween. Be prepared, though, because this hack comes with some health warnings.

First, if you wish to follow 5-Minute DECOR's tutorial, be sure to try a test patch 24 hours before you go all in. And it goes without saying, this hack is probably best avoided if you have sensitive skin. If you're still prepared to try, though, 5-Minute DECOR says to start by brushing some glue onto your skin. When it dries, the tutorial claims, cover the area in makeup powder to get a frighteningly brilliant result.

Perfect pumpkins every time

Decorating your house for Halloween can be a time-consuming process, so if you’re looking to speed things up, 5-Minute Crafts PLAY shared an idea. Take some orange wool and wrap it around your fingers. Then, cut the thread.

Using whatever’s left, tie it together in the middle. Add a green wire to the top to finish it off. Now, you’ve got yourself a little pumpkin. You can make plenty of them to fill up a room.

Fake blood, be gone

Halloween parties can be a lot of fun, but cleaning up the next day is a nightmare. It’s the only time of year when fake blood stains on the carpet are practically guaranteed!

Don’t worry, though — there's a simple solution to your problem. According to experts, a pre-treat stain remover and some scrubbing will get rid of the marks in no time.

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your... tights

Everyone knows that hair is key if you’re planning on dressing up as Rapunzel for Halloween. Luckily, you don’t need to spend money on an extravagant wig to look the part. Just take a pair of skin-colored tights and put them on your head.

Then, chop off the legs and sew the opening shut to create a cap. Grab some lengthy yellow wool threads, stitch them to your makeshift cap, and behold! You've officially transformed into Rapunzel without breaking the bank.

Decor to dry for

If you can’t get hold of a pumpkin in time for Halloween, don’t despair. Instead, head down to your local DIY store. You can easily create a worthwhile substitute with a dryer vent.

Just bend it in on itself before slapping a coat of orange paint on the exterior. And by placing a stick of cinnamon in the center, you’ll have your stalk. Pretty cool, right?

Hand me some punch, please

Looking to draw some screams from your party guests? Well, this hack from the Allrecipes' YouTube channel is just the ticket. Using a mixture of water and melted gelatin, fill up a rubber glove.

From there, tie it shut and stick it in the freezer for a couple of days. When it’s solid, take it out and cut off the glove. Now you’ve got a severed hand to put in your punch bowl. Ingenious!

Fang-tastic vampire teeth

Speaking from experience, wearing a set of vampire teeth isn’t particularly comfortable. They’re always coming loose! But this clever trick will eliminate those issues.

If you’ve got any fake nails lying around, grab a couple and cut them into the shape of fangs. Use a tooth adhesive to fix them in place. Trust us, it really is as simple as that.

You're feeling very sleepy...

Why splash money on novelty Halloween pillows when you can make some yourself? It’s pretty easy, actually. You just need to sketch half of a candy corn or ghost on two folded pieces of fabric.

.Then after you’ve cut them out, glue the material together, leaving an opening at the bottom. That’ll allow you to stuff the pillow after adding your designs to it. Seal the gap, and voilà.

A sight for sore eyes

Sure, you can create some elaborate scares with your Halloween decorations, but a few creepy eyeballs will be just as effective. All you’ll need is a number of Styrofoam balls.

Smooth each of them out at first, ahead of drawing your designs. From there, glue red woolen threads to the surface, making the eyes look as icky as you can.

BOO!

If you’ve got a blank picture frame in your house, you should give this a go. To start with, carefully remove the glass and douse it with “mirror effect spray” before putting it back.

.Print off a photo of a creepy ghost and stick that behind the glass before reattaching the back panel to the frame and closing it shut. Now, whenever anyone looks at their reflection, they’ll get a very spooky surprise!

Kooky witch shoes

Instead of throwing your old shoes out, why not repurpose them in an awesome way? To begin with, cut up an empty pie tray to decorate the front and back of the footwear.

From there, cover the whole thing in paper-mâché. Once they’re dry, decorate each shoe in colors fitting for a witch. You could use paint, felt, glitter, or anything else that catches your eye.
